The 2016 filmmaking workshop will be led by Paris-based filmmaker Emmanuel Nakach
Emmanuel Nakach: acteur, réalisateur et auteur. C’est lui qui dirigera le stage en version francophone à Paros.
Après des études musicales et scientifiques, il travaille d’abord comme ingénieur du son pour le cinéma (« Tout le monde dit I love you » de Woody Allen) puis il se passionne pour le jeu d’acteur et la réalisation.
Au théâtre il alterne les comédies (au Splendid) et les drames («La visite» de Victor Haïm au théâtre du Nord Ouest) ; au cinéma il est un des acteurs récurrents des films de Jean-Pierre Mocky («Le dossier Toroto », « Myster Mocky… »).
Parallèlement à son travail d’acteur il réalise une dizaine de courts métrages, plusieurs sont primés en festival dont : « Daniel » acquis par l’éducation nationale. La transmission le passionne tout autant et c’est ainsi qu’il forme depuis une quinzaine d’années, des étudiants aux métiers du cinéma dans les principales écoles parisiennes (Eicar, Esra…).
Il participe également en tant que formateur à de nombreux stages AFDAS de réalisation cinéma. Aux cours théoriques sur la dramaturgie, l’analyse filmique et la mise en scène, s’ajoute l’encadrement des tournages (découpage, prise de vue, direction d’acteur, montage …).
Emmanuel Nakach développe actuellement l’écriture de son premier long métrage. C’est lui qui a constitué en exclusivité ce programme de stage de Réalisation.
Emmanuel Nakach is an actor, writer, director, and Head of the French-language Paros Filmmaking Workshop.
After completing music and scientific studies, Emmanuel worked as a film sound engineer (notably on Woody Allen’s Everyone Says I Love You) then became
passionate about acting and directing. As a theatre actor, he played in comedies (at the Théâtre du Splendid) as well as in dramatic works (The Visit, by Victor Haïm at the Théâtre du Nord Ouest). In movies, he regularly acted in films by Jean-Pierre Mocky (Le
dossier Toroto, Myster Mocky…).
Aside from his acting career, Emmanuel wrote, produced, directed, acted in and edited a dozen short films that were selected in film festivals, particularly his film Daniel which was purchased by the French Department of Education.
Teaching also became another of his passions and Emmanuel worked as a film teacher for fifteen years in the foremost Parisian film schools (Eicar, Esra…). He has also lead several AFDAS—French governmental sponsored—filmmaking workshops covering all subjects such as film theory, screenwriting, film and scene analysis, budgeting, photography, directing actors, editing, etc.
Based in Paris, he is currently writing the script for his first feature film which he intends to direct. Emmanuel is the exclusive creator of the Paros Filmmaking Workshop Program tailor-made specifically for the Greek Cyclades Islands location
The Acting Workshop will be led by New York-based actor/filmmaker Alain Cloarec
Stage formation de l'acteur par Alain Cloarec (New-York)
Cinéaste et professeur, Alain Cloarec a travaillé avec Claude Lelouch sur le film « Edith et Marcel » et avec Claude Zidi et Coluche sur leur film « Banzai » tourné dans le Bronx ! Alain a étudié l’art dramatique au Lee Strasberg Institute. Il a obtenu son diplôme de film à l’école de cinéma de New York University et sa maitrise en théâtre à Hunter College. On a pu découvrir son premier long métrage The Golden Ram au festival Mystfest en Italie et son court métrage, 1st Session, a été présenté dans une douzaine de festivals aux USA et en Australie. Alain a enseigné le cinéma à New York University, l’écriture de scénarios à Queens College, et l’art dramatique à l’Institut Norvégien d’Art Dramatique à Oslo. Alain est aujourd’hui le fondateur de l’organisation pédagogique, culturelle et artistique All For The Arts NYC à Manhattan où il enseigne le cinéma et l’écriture de scénarios. Alain dirigera le stage en version anglaise.
A graduate of NYU Film School and the Lee Strasberg Institute, Alain also studied with Jose Quintéro at Columbia University and attended the Anthony Hopkins workshop at HB Studios. As an actor turned filmmaker, Alain financed his first low-budget independent feature film The Golden Ram using fifteen credit cards. The film was five and a half years in the making. The Golden Ram premiered at Italy’s MYSTFEST, International Mystery Film Festival and is a California Film Awards 2010 Diamond Winner. His short film, 1st Session, was screened in several festivals including the Carmel Art and Film Festival, the California Riverside International Film Festival, the Improvised Film Festival in Australia and recently at the Canada International Film Festival in Vancouver where he won the Award of Excellence in Filmmaking.
Alain went back to school and graduated with a Master’s in Theatre History, Criticism and Theory from Hunter College in New York City. His short plays Thespis and Nothing Could Surprise Me Now were produced at The Factory in NYC and the latter play produced in London in the summer of 2015. He is the recipient of the 2013 National Amy and Eric Burger Best Essay on Theatre Competition for his paper on Orson Welles’ Mercury Theatre, and his article on Japanese Theatre director Oriza Hirata’s Android/Robot Human Theater was published in Puppetry International Magazine.
Alain has written short and full-length plays and screenplays in both English and French. His detective thriller script, The Blind Spot, was a finalist in the 2014 San Pedro International Film Festival in California, the 2015 Colortape Film Festival in Australia, and won third prize at the 2015 Las Vegas Film Festival.
Alain has taught acting and filmmaking at New York University and screenwriting at Queens College as guest lecturer. In 2014 he went to Oslo to teach a master class in script analysis and acting at the only Method Acting Conservatory in Norway (NSKI). He is the founder of the educational, cultural and artistic organization All For The Arts NYC in Manhattan where he currently teaches filmmaking and screenwriting.
